From Edmonton, Alberta
Mixed Media Art
I was born and raised in rural Alberta, on my childhood farm at Lea Park. From childhood I was always drawing and creating. I would submit art pieces to local radio station contests and the local fairs. Prizes were often a kit of art supplies. Art instruction school courses gave me the foundation in drawing, perspective, and composition, as well as introduced me to many mediums.
I moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1970, here I had access to many community art and pottery groups. I attended classes at the University of Alberta Extension, studying drawing, portraiture and photography.
Through travel, my art expanded and grew as I attended workshops in France, Italy and USA. My teaching positions for many years have been with community art groups. I've also taught children's art and clay classes through Edmonton Parks and Recreation. I am currently an active member of the Edmonton Art Club, the Edmonton Potters Guild, and the ACACA.
